Cleaning Your Margarator Maker

Published On: Friday, January 16, 2009

When you very first take your brand new Margarator maker out of the box, you will probably have a burning temptation to rip it open, pour in the ice and tequila, and get started right away. Not so fast! While frosty margaritas are thirst-quenching and delicious, it is important that you rinse out the machine before its first use. This is because some of the machines are tested before being shipped out, which can leave a slight mildew odor in the unit. Your first batch of drinks will taste much better after a thorough rinsing.

Additionally, your margarita machine should be washed after every single use. This keeps the machine from accumulating build-up. It will keep your margaritas tasting fresh and delicious, and it will keep the machine running stronger and longer.

To clean your Margarator maker, first, be sure that you have first unplugged the machine from the electrical outlet. If you do not do this step, you risk being shocked. Next, you will need to get rid of the leftover drinks in the unit. You can do this by pouring it out from the top or by dispensing it from the spout.

You will need to unlock the top of the Margarator maker from the base. Clean the top in soapy water in your sink with a soft sponge or cloth. Be sure the spout is flushed while you are washing it. If you do not do so, that part of the machine may develop build-up.

Then, rise the machine thoroughly and dry it. You will need to wipe the bottom base with a wet cloth and dry it with a towel. Once the machine is completely dry, you can put it up and store it for the next occasion. While those steps certainly aren’t fun, they will help prolong the life of your margarita machine and ensure you will get the maximum possible return on your investment.

Whether you are cleaning your Margarator maker for the first time or for the fiftieth time, there are several guidelines you must stick to in order to keep your machine running in top condition for as long as possible. Here are tips to always follow:

  • Do not try to open the base of the machine. There are no parts in there that can be taken apart without breaking your Margarator maker.
  • When you are cleaning the device, do not let the motor base be immersed in water. This will cause it to stop working.
  • Do not place the motor base in the dishwasher; this will also damage it and cause the machine to work improperly or not at all.
  • Do not ever clean the unit with an abrasive sponge or abrasive cloth. This will cause scratches.
  • Do not use a scouring pad when cleaning the machine; this will cause damage.

While it would certainly be easier to toss your Margarator maker into the dishwasher, the machine is delicate and needs to be washed gently by hand in order for it to last and continue making tasty margaritas in the future. The better you clean it, the better your next batch of margaritas will taste!
